Legacies are vital to our work. Leaving a Legacy or Legacy Pledge to The Friends of Glasgow Necropolis is a meaningful way to ensure that our work can continue.

The Friends of Glasgow Necropolis is a charity run entirely by volunteers who work closely with GCC and look after this unique cemetery. Our work ensures that it will be there for those who come after us. Everything about the ‘City of the Dead’ needs real care. These memorials are not just sculptures in stone. They represent the people of Glasgow and beyond – the architects that designed them and those who are buried here with their stories that make the history of Glasgow. Along with that is the designed landscape with the trees and planting that means so much from the Victorians love of the meaning of flowers.

Hundreds of memorials from the simplest to the grandest have already benefited from our help from donations from our tours and presentation and applications to various grant bodies. Families from round the world have also contributed to repairs of their relatives’ memorials after visiting the Necropolis.

As public funding declines and demands on limited resources increase, legacies are even more important than ever. Whatever their size, they really do have a significant impact on ourwork. Please consider leaving a Legacy or Legacy Pledge to ensure our work can continue.
