Military Service	Binning joined the IMS as a Lieutenant on 31st July 1909 and by 1912 he is shown in the Indian Army List of that year as attached to 90th Punjabis. Promoted captain in 1912 It is difficult to trace Binning’s war service but given that he receives a Mention in Haig’s Despatch published on 15th June 1916 it suggests that he had been in France for some time prior to that date. It is most likely that he was already serving with the 7th (Meerut) Division which arrived from India in October 1914. The division was transferred to Mesopotamia before April 1916 and became part of III Indian Army Corps. Binning’s Medal Index Card shows he served with the 130th Indian Field Ambulance which was attached to 92nd Punjabis, 19th Brigade.
