Military Service | Bannerman was commissioned into the Special Reserve as a Second Lieutenant in the Army Service Corps in 1910, was promoted Lieutenant in October 1914 and Captain in March 1915. He had been called up on 6th August 1914 and arrived in France on either 9th or 13th August. He was involved in the fighting at Mons in August, The Aisne in September and First Ypres in October/November 1914. He served at the front until early 1917 when he spent several months at home recovering from trench fever. On his return to the conflict he was attached to the Royal Garrison Artillery until his death during Third Ypres. This information on his military service is taken from an obituary and no further details are known. | |
